Local and regional conservation groups will present information to the federally appointed review board managing public consultation on the draft ski area guidelines for Canada's national parks on Wednesday and Friday of this week. In Banff the Bow Valley Naturalists, the Alberta Wilderness Association and UTSB Research will present to the panel at 1:00 p.m. on Wednesday, December 16 at the Banff Park Lodge. In Jasper, the Jasper Environmental Association and the Alberta Wilderness Association will present on Friday, December 18 at 1:15, at Sawridge Hotel in the ballroom. The panel has been asked to review the Draft Ski Areas Guidelines prepared behind closed doors by Parks Canada, the four ski areas (Sunshine, Mount Norquay, Lake Louise and Marmot Basin) and a ski area consultant. The Review Panel, chaired by Calgary based planner Dr. Douglas Olson, will make a report to the Minister of Canadian Heritage, Sheila Copps, by the middle of February.
