Wardens at Banff National Park helped in airlifting a pair of fallen climbers off a mountain Friday only to discover the victims were two of their off-duty colleagues. The two female wardens were hiking on a popular snow and ice section of Mount Lefroy out of Abbott Pass. "They took a fall, and went down about 1,000 feet and sustained some injuries," said warden Marc Ledwidge. Ledwidge said the two wardens are experienced climbers. After the fall, another climber raised the alert by cellphone, and park wardens flew to the scene by helicopter but terrain forced carrying the women by sling. Both women were taken to the Banff Mineral Springs Hospital for treatment and one was later airlifted to Calgary.
