Elk relocation shows results November 14, 2000
Officials are crediting a new initiative to relocate troublesome elk away from Banff's townsite for the fact there have been no attacks on humans this year. Parks Canada rounded up 153 elk in and around the townsite and moved them elsewhere in the park in an attempt to cut down on the number of aggressive incidents. The annual elk count in the spring found no animals within the townsite this year when traditionally there have been between 50 and 70. Related stories: elk |
