Residents of Jasper are about to get the chance to voice their opinion about the creation of a local government. The question will be on the federal election ballot November 27. Because the Jasper townsite is in a national park, it is governed by Ottawa. Jasper has voted on this issue before. In 1986, the "yes" side lost by 50 votes. The vote on November 27 is not binding on the federal government.
