Three hikers caught in an avalanche in Jasper National Park yesterday thanked the man who saved them from certain death. The hikers -- Conrad, Gary and Owen, who did not release their last names -- issued a statement from hospital: "We would like to express our sincere gratitude to . . . Josh Briggs, who is truly a hero in our lives." Mr. Briggs ensured they were warm, ran to the nearest road and found a motorist who notified the park warden's office
