Banff residents were told to get used to sharing the town site with wildlife. Park Wardens believe the cougars are following a herd of elk that has been seen just west of Banff. The meeting gave park wardens and wildlife experts, such as Ian Ross, a chance to tell people what to do if they encounter a mountain lion. "Maintain constant eye contact with cougars," says Ross. "Confrontations with humans are for the most part predatory so your safest response is to be aggressive right back to them."
