Wildlife, traffic top Trans-Canada expansion issues west of Calgary January 21, 2001
Protecting wildlife paths and keeping traffic congestion to a minimum are priorities for residents affected by expansion of the Trans-Canada Highway on Calgary's western outskirts. The wildlife corridor includes roughly 20 kilometres of deep ravines, grasslands and shrubbery along the south side of the highway from Edworthy Park to West Springbank. The area is populated with deer, coyotes and cougars. The Trans-Canada expansion project is in the preliminary, planning stages. Related stories: road kill | coyotes Other news for January 2001 |
