The B.C. provincial government announced a three-year moratorium on grizzly bear hunting. A coalition of international environmental groups has been been running a high-profile advertising campaign against the hunt. As many as 400 grizzlies are killed legally by hunters every year in B.C. Provincial biologists estimate there are 10,000 to 13,000 grizzlies in the province. Opponents of the hunt estimate there are only 4,000 to 6,000.
