Wear your helmets, skiers, boarders told

Skiers and snowboarders should continue wearing helmets despite the fact an 18-year-old skier was seriously injured while wearing one, says a Banff medical spokesperson. Although they're not perfect, helmets have prevented scores of serious injuries and deaths on the slopes around Banff, said Peter Symons, manager of Banff Emergency Medical Services. A 30-year-old man snowboarding at Lake Louise was knocked out in a crash Saturday, after deciding at the last minute not to rent a helmet, Symons said.
