Crazy Canuck Dave Irwin critically injured at Sunshine March 24, 2001
Canadian ski icon Dave Irwin, a member of the original Crazy Canucks downhill ski team, has been hospitalized after a skiing accident. The injury happened Friday during a training run for the Export A Extreme Skier Cross being held at Sunshine Village. As Irwin was skiing through as series of small rolling jumps, he landed on his side and slammed his head on the snow. Irwin, 46, was wearing a helmet at the time. The part of the hill where the accident occurred is considered one of its easiest sections and is often used for teaching. Related stories: Dave Irwin |
