Dave Irwin, a star Canadian skier in the 1970s and 1980s, slammed his head on the snow while making a jump and was hospitalized in critical condition. The 46-year-old skier was injured Friday during a training run for the Export A Extreme Skier Cross at Sunshine Village near Banff. He was flown to hospital in Banff and transferred to Calgary's Foothills Hospital. His family requested that no further information be released.
