An experienced mountain climber was killed near Jasper on Sunday, the third person to die in the mountain park this year. Clinton Mark Giesbrecht, 30, fell more than 900 metres from the Slipstream route of the Snow Dome, a popular climbing spot in the Columbia Icefields. The Banff resident had set off on his own around 3 a.m. and reached the top the mountain. It was on his descent, around 2:30 p.m. that police say Giesbrecht was swept off the face of the cliff.
