By traditional economic measures, Alberta is rich and prosperous, perhaps the wealthiest part of Canada. But a new study released today produced a less rosy picture of the province, saying for instance that about one-third of the population is fat, up from 14 per cent in 1985, and that if everyone in the world had as great an environmental impact as Albertans, another five planets would be needed just to supply the land and resources.
