Environmentalists attack CP's plan for Lake Louise expansion

Canadian Pacific Ltd.'s last annual meeting before the huge conglomerate is split into five independent companies was a genteel event - even the save-the-grizzly activists were polite as they tried to derail expansion at CP's famed hotel in picturesque Lake Louise. A Washington-based environmentalist, who identified himself as a shareholder, presented CP chairman David O'Brien with a letter signed by 50 groups opposing a seven-storey convention centre at Chateau Lake Louise. Critics of the hotel expansion say it will increase pollution, road traffic and further endanger wildlife, in particular grizzly bears, claims CP denies
