Our lowly Banff Springs snail unlikely star on endangered list

The Banff Springs Snail may not be as cuddly as a marmot or charismatic as a whooping crane, but its status as very rare yet very saveable has made it the unlikely star of an environmental group's national endangered species campaign. The International Fund for Animal Welfare is focussing on the snail, possibly Alberta's most endangered species, in lobbying the Canadian government for protective legislation.
