Three students receiving CPA bursaries were also honoured. Each year, in an effort to increase young Albertans' interest in parliament, the CPA awards bursaries to a recipient from the Alberta Girls' Parliament and from TUXIS Parliament. Alberta Girls' Parliament winners Shawna Pandya of Sherwood Park and Katherine Mazurok of Edmonton Whitemud and TUXIS Parliament winner Alison Buckingham of Banff Cochrane were presented with an $800 cheque and a commemorative plaque on behalf of the CPA by their MLAs, the Hon. Iris Evans, Minister of Childrens' Services, the Hon. David Hancock, Minister of Justice and Attorney General, and Mrs. Janis Tarchuk, MLA Banff Cochrane.
