Rival bidder emerges for Canadian ski resorts June 28, 2001
A rival bidder emerged Thursday for several major Canadian ski resorts, including World Cup-hosting Lake Louise, just as the cash-strapped company that runs the properties won some badly needed short-term financing from its current suitor. An owner of Camp Fortune, a Quebec ski area located north of Ottawa, said he planned to launch a competing offer for struggling Resorts of the Canadian Rockies, which runs eight top ski resorts, as well as golf courses and hotels.
