Banff getting jitters over PM's G8 plans July 22, 2001
The G-8 Summit is Alberta bound -- and it promises to be "a disaster," according to critics. The location of next year's G-8 -- a mountain resort in Alberta -- was relayed to other summit leaders in Genoa, Italy, last night by Prime Minister Jean Chretien, according to Italian officials. The exact location of the Alberta resort was not revealed, but Banff and Jasper have been mentioned in the past. The prospect of hosting the July 2002 summit is not going over well with many in Banff. Related stories: G8 |
