G8 summit protesters could target Calgary and Canmore

Demonstrators say the secluded Rocky Mountain location won't deter them from descending on next year's Group of Eight summit in Kananaskis, Alta., but officials worry that protesters will destroy surrounding communities if security is tight at the conference site. Municipal officials and industry leaders in Calgary as well as residents in the nearby mountain community of Canmore have expressed concern about the choice, announced by Prime Minister Jean Chrétien, of the tiny provincial park village west of Calgary.
