Federal officials are quietly booking as many as 7,000 hotel rooms in and around Calgary -- and perhaps more -- for next June, to accommodate the crush of journalists and security that will accompany next year's G-8 summit in Kananaskis. The rooms are to be used by the preliminary forecast of 2,000-plus reporters and photographers and early estimates of security forces of 5,000 to 10,000 personnel -- representing a financial windfall for hoteliers but potential chaos for the average tourist.
