A businessman's dream of buying several top Canadian ski resorts suffered a major setback on Monday when a judge rejected his request to delay a creditor vote on a more complete rival offer. In a heated court hearing, a lawyer for Bob Sudermann, who runs Ottawa-area ski hill Camp Fortune, argued he should be given two weeks to nail down his proposed rescue plan for insolvent Resorts of the Canadian Rockies, which owns Lake Louise in Banff National Park, a World Cup venue, and seven other resorts. But Calgary Judge Barbara Romaine rejected the motion, and ruled creditors will vote as scheduled on Friday on the first plan of arrangement, spearheaded by energy-industry financier Murray Edwards and deemed fair by the court-appointed monitor.
