Highway 93 to Radium open to through traffic, closure possible

A smoke and awareness warning is in effect due to a fire in Kootenay National Park on the west facing slopes of Mt. Shanks. Castle Mountain Junction to the British Columbia Border is now open to through traffic only. No recreation use is allowed at present. Drivers should expect reduced visibility due to smoke at the North end of Kootenay National Park and possibly an escort with pilot vehicles. CLOSURE OF THE HIGHWAY IS POSSIBLE later in the day
