A forest fire burning in Kootenay National Park is "technically out of control," but workers are not trying to fight the blaze, merely to control it, a park official said yesterday. Rob Walker, a warden with Parks Canada in Banff and Lake Louise, said about 75 workers were trying to restrain flames that had prompted officials to fly out almost 100 people by yesterday. "This fire should burn itself out before winter," he said. "But the worst-case scenario is strong winds from the east pick up and spread it west and farther north and into Banff National Park.
