A rare and valuable fossil has been stolen from the world-famous Burgess Shale and authorities believe it may be sold on the black market to a private collector. The unique ottoia — a small worm — valued at more than $25,000 was embedded in a large, heavy rock and was taken sometime between Aug. 17 and 18 from the Walcott Quarry.
