Wanted: missing worm

August 31, 2001 - National Post - story by Mary Vallis

A 500-million-year-old carnivorous worm has been stolen from a fossil bed in the Rocky Mountains near Field, B.C. The worm, which is officially called ottoia, was embedded in a rock weighing about 15 kilograms at Burgess Shale, a world-renowned fossil site in Yoho National Park. One expert said stealing a fossil from Burgess Shale is like stealing a chunk of the ancient pyramids.
