The travel companies, all of whom send clients to Banff, a United Nations World Heritage Site, are calling for Parks Canada to refuse building permits for the proposal. The companies are concerned about the threat to wildlife, with bear biologists calling the proposal "another nail in the coffin for Banff's grizzlies", and aquatic biologists - including Parks Canada's own expert - fearing pollution of the Bow River. Furthermore, Fairmont's plans to close trails that Canadians and tourists have used for generations, if and when harm to wildlife occurs, would damage the visitor experience for everyone.
