Voters pick business voices for Town Council October 17, 2001
Banff voters have elected a Mountie hero to their new town council, which now has a decided bent on business. Nigel Paterson, who caught the man who murdered Banff cabbie Lucie Turmel a decade ago, was the top choice with 940 votes in Monday’s (Oct. 15) municipal election which sees council with a strong voice for tourism. Incumbents Jane Newman and Audrey Rogers lost their seats to Paterson and Ossi Treutler Jr — two candidates who had business listed as a top concern in their platforms.
