Wanted: pictures of falling meteor October 21, 2001
Allan Hildebrand, a planetary scientist at the University of Calgary, says the fiery meteor was likely the biggest to fall in Canada this year. He estimates it weighed about ten tonnes and measured nearly two metres across. He suspects pieces likely fell in the mountains south of Jasper, on the boundary of Banff National Park and the Bighorn Wildlands recreation area. Related stories: meteor |
