Whistler homes hit new heights November 19, 2001
It was more heady news for the savvy investors who already own property in Canada's most pricey community: Whistler housing prices are expected to triple by 2010. That means a basic Alpine-themed, A-frame, single-family house, without anything fancy, like say a garage, could cost almost $3-million by the end of the decade, according a report by Canada Mortgage and Housing Corp. If current trends continue, Whistler's property values could exceed those in Aspen, further confirmation of the resort's segue into the elite circle of internationally recognized ski resorts -- Vail, Gstaad, St. Moritz -- known by name alone, not country.
