Mitchell's Gourmet Foods is recalling 20,000 kilograms of fresh pork to recover just 900 kg contaminated with enough penicillin to endanger people with severe allergies to the antibiotic. Authorities hope the quick voluntary recall Saturday stopped distribution before affected meat reached the shelves of 250 retail stores and chains from Northern Ontario to British Columbia. LuAn Mitchell, chairperson of the board of the food company, maintains an office in Banff.
