Graeme McDonald, the former President of the Banff Centre, has died at the age of 57. He had been suffering from leukemia. McDonald led the Banff Centre from 1993 until he retired in May 2001. He established the Creative Edge fundraising campaign, which generated $17 million to support the long-term viability of the Banff Centre. Under McDonald's leadership, the Centre was designated a National Training Institute by the Department of Canadian Heritage in 1999. Graeme McDonald was also a member of the Order of Canada.
