Banff's small businesses take another step December 14, 2001
Local small business owners decided to form the group when the number of visitors dropped substantially after the September 11 terrorist attacks. Jeff Hines, an acting co-chair of the Association, says retailers felt no one was representing their interests in promoting Banff so they decided to do something for themselves. "We need to work together to maintain the business in Banff and also to maintain the integrity of Banff Avenue." Hines says local owners who have fewer than 50 employees are eligible to join the group. He expects several dozen business owners will sign up. The Association will lobby governments on their behalf and provide other services. |
