Longtime ski race on thin ice December 24, 2001
The Lake Louise to Banff Loppet, an Alberta cross-country skiing tradition since 1920, may be shut down over a dispute with the Canadian Pacific Railway. The railway is denying skiers use of its right-of-way on Jan. 26 because of safety and liability concerns. The 65-kilometre race passes over two remote railroad crossings and runs along the tracks at two points. |
