Some people in Banff aren't too happy the town's first and only postal code, T0L 0C0, is being replaced by 68 new ones. Theresa Williams, a spokesperson for Canada Post, says Banff is too big for a single rural post code. She says the town has 5,300 mailboxes and the new codes will allow for faster sorting by machines, not by hand. "Because of the nature of the equipment and the way the postal code system worksÉwe have to put in a whole new system for Banff," says Williams. Ossie Treutler Jr., one of Banff's town councillors, has written letters of protest to Canada Post, saying TOL OCO should have been left alone. "It's somewhat of a heritage issue to me," says Treutler Jr. "I've used it my entire life. There are many seniors in town who used it longer than I have."
