Head-on crash near Lake Louise kills senior December 29, 2001
An elderly Manitoba man is dead and his wife fighting for her life after a devastating collision yesterday near Lake Louise. Around 9 a.m., the couple's minivan slammed head-first into an oncoming pickup truck travelling 5 km west of Lake Louise on the Trans-Canada Hwy. "A westbound motorist attempting to pass a slow-moving vehicle on Hwy. 1 westbound from Lake Louise struck an eastbound vehicle," said Lake Louise RCMP Const. Albert Lamb. The wreckage closed the highway for 40 minutes and slowed traffic for about six hours as investigators combed the scene about 190 km west of Calgary. Related stories: accidents on the road |
