RCMP release names of Winnipeggers killed in crash near Lake Louise December 31, 2001
A retired hotel owner and his friend, both Winnipeggers, are dead following a head-on collision west of Lake Louise, Alberta. The accident happened Friday while the pair was returning from a Christmas vacation in Vancouver. Seventy-seven-year-old Gregory Lucan and 67-year-old Juliette Mineault were travelling in a mini-van on the Trans-Canada Highway when they were hit head-on by a west-bound pickup truck. Police say the truck's driver, a 27-year-old B.C. man, was trying to pass a slow-moving vehicle when he collided with the Winnipeggers' van. He has been charged with passing when unsafe.
