Instructor, with helmet, killed in ski accident at Nakiska January 3, 2002
Hugh Hamilton, 72, died instantly when he hit a tree at Nakiska, after colliding with another skier. Hamilton, who was a ski instructor, was wearing a helmet at the time. "He'd come in between two skiers," says Const. Stacey Talbot with the Kananaskis RCMP. "(He) ended up crossing over the skis of another individual which caused the individual on his skis to tumble, which put Mr. hamilton off balance and he entered into the bush area and collided with a tree." Talbot says emergency crews were there moments later, but Hamilton was pronounced dead at the scene. Related stories: accidents at ski hills |
