Mountain man, cowboy. Born Dec. 5, 1911 near Cowley, Alta. Died Feb. 7, 2001, in Banff, of natural causes, aged 89. Jim Burles was one of nine children and the oldest of the eight boys born to Percy and Elizabeth Burles, two English immigrants who insisted that hard work, honesty, good manners and punctuality were the most important virtues in life
