A Jasper Park Warden has died after being caught in an avalanche yesterday. The avalanche buried three park wardens who were checking on snow stability near the Columbia Icefield. Mike Wynn died in hospital early this morning, Brad Romaniuk and Randy Fingland didn’t receive life threatening injuries. The three park wardens for Jasper National Park were conducting snow profiles for an avalanche forecasting service for the area and were on their way back to the highway when the snow slide hit. The avalanche occurred at 2:30 p.m. about 10 kilometres south of the Columbia Icefield in the Parker's Ridge area, a popular backcountry ski site.
