Warden dies after massive slide south of Jasper

Park wardens are mourning the loss of one of their own, an avid outdoorsman and devoted family man who, in a sad twist of irony, was overtaken by a crushing wall of snow near Jasper during Avalanche Awareness Week . Mike Wynn, 37, died at Foothills Hospital yesterday morning as a result of critical injuries following Saturday's avalanche on Parker's Ridge, about 110 km south of Jasper along Hwy. 93. "Everyone in the Jasper Park Service is shell-shocked to say the least," said fellow warden and friend Rupert Wedgewood.
