Parks Canada is so short of money it can't rebuild many of the 21 badly deteriorated numbered highways that pass through 16 national parks. As a result, the federal department will have to delay implementing many of the measures a federal task force deemed necessary to keep the 39 national parks pristine and unpolluted... The annual report says about a third of the highways passing through the country's parks are in poor condition. They include parts of the Trans-Canada and Yellowhead highways passing through Banff, Yoho and Jasper
