Ski report slammed January 28, 2002
A United Nations study that claims the rising popularity of skiing is ruining the Rockies was slammed yesterday as being littered with "falsehoods." The report blames the ski industry for creating unsustainable pressure in the Rockies -- and one of its authors singled out Banff as a problem area. But the National Park Ski Area Association, which speaks for Banff's ski resorts, branded the study "hogwash." "Whatever this person has made up can't apply to Banff," fumed spokesman Crosbie Cotton.
