This year’s Town budget will spare residents from new taxes, however this year will only see essential projects come to light. During its meeting Monday (Jan. 28), Banff Town Council passed the capital and operating budgets. The Town’s five-year capital budget is $20,739,400 with an additional $49,067,000 identified for projects beyond the 2002-2006 period. The operational budget is $18.8 million, bringing the overall increase of $950,000. The largest increase goes to the Banff-Lake Louise Tourism Bureau. The bureau receives $130,000 for special funding for 2002 projects.
