Avalanche bulletin saved February 12, 2002
Two private groups have come up with the funding needed to keep the B.C. avalanche report going for another year. The bulletin, which warns people about dangerous snowpack and weather conditions was in jeopardy after the provincial government pulled its $40,000 in annual funding. Clair Israelson of the Canadian Avalanche Association says the new funding came from two groups that have been raising money to build a cabin in memory of Michel Trudeau, and to create greater awareness of avalanche safety. "They became aware that we were in tremendous dire straits and came through and saved the day for us," he says |
