Drying hot springs slows snail plan

Dried up hot springs pools could jeopardize a plan to reintroduce the endangered snail back into its habitat on Sulphur Mountain. Banff Springs snail researcher Dr. Dwayne Lepitzki is counting down the days before Parks Canada signs off on a resource management plan — the first such plan it’s produced on its own — however low thermal water levels may make the habitat unsafe for the captive-bred little mollusk.
