Copps, Parks urged to release Pinewoods information

A Liberal backbencher is demanding that Canadian Heritage Minister Sheila Copps and Parks Canada publicly release information on what taxpayers anted up for the Pinewoods property in Banff. Ontario MP John Bryden says he wants to know whether Copps and the federal agency she oversees are committed to “transparency or secrecy” over the compensation deal that stemmed from the federal government’s takeover of Pinewoods. Bryden was asked to step in by a local policy watchdog group whose recent Access to Information request on the Pinewoods land exchange contained unprecedented censorship.
