Fears for safety push wardens to speak out

A bitter law enforcement dispute is starting to take its toll on the national parks and the guardians who have protected the country’s most treasured lands for close to a century. Robi Gareau, a seasonal Banff National Park warden, says he dreamed of becoming a warden at the age of six, to protect the park, the people and its wildlife. But he fears for the very future of the parks and the 100-year-old warden service because of Parks Canada’s unbending stance on the controversial sidearm debate.
