A yearling black bear killed by wildlife officers in Kananaskis has tainted the G-8 summit's environmental legacy, say infuriated environmental groups. The bruin, the summit's only casualty, was startled out of a tree by a loud firecracker on Monday around dusk while he was attempting to reach a food bag tied between two trees at a campsite. The fall left the bear severely injured, forcing conservation officers to kill it.
