Rooms go begging in Banff

Most summers at this time, Banff is jammed. But the after-effects of Sept. 11 and a G-8 hangover have combined to cut occupancy by up to 15 per cent. Banff enjoyed a spurt of visits last week, but there is some doubt about the momentum sustaining through August. Due in part to the dicey U.S. economy and droop in stock markets, group travel has fallen most significantly.
