Parks criticized over wildlife regulations March 3, 2003
Black bears in the Bow Valley of Banff National Park fare no better than they would in unprotected areas despite extensive regulations intended to safeguard the park’s wildlife, a new study has found. Their annual adult mortality rate from such human causes as car accidents and killing by wardens is 16%, the same as for bears outside the park. Related stories: bears Other news for March 2003 |
